Raya In The City!

Published on 24 May, 2019

Hari Raya Aidilfitri is all about forgiveness, giving and spending time with your family. For those who won’t be going back to your hometown for the holidays or simply want to try celebrating Raya in the city, this is the best time to explore Kuala Lumpur minus the traffic and the crowd!

It is also the perfect opportunity for families with children to enjoy the school holiday with activities that can strengthen your family bond alongside having a lot of fun. If that is your family’s plan this year, here are some ideas that you and your family can do!

1. Visit public open houses!

Apart from the classic Raya songs and the colorful clothes everyone will be experiencing, one of the most exciting events during this festive season is definitely the open houses. From neighbors to colleagues and even our beloved Prime Minister, we are sure open house events will be aplenty! These events not only give us the opportunity to nurture our relationships with those around us but its also a great way for the little ones to collect some duit raya ;)

2. Visit the malls!

You probably go, what? Visiting malls during Raya? But hang in there! There are so many things that you can do at the malls during the festive season with your family!  With extravagant decorations (perfect for those Raya selfies), plenty of activities and special performances, what better way to spend some quality family time together than this? Here are some of the activities and performances this Raya you can attend with your family!

Sunway Velocity Mall

Gamelan Contemporary Music - 5 June, 5pm

3. Movie time!

When you're full to the brim with ketupat and rendang, take a breather (to let your food digest, of course!) and perhaps pay your local cinema a visit. Catch up on some new blockbuster films with the whole family! Maybe take your nieces and nephews along for some extra fun!

Here are some of the most anticipated movies for you and the family to watch this festive season:

4. Going out to theme parks!

Another great way to spend the holiday is to have some family fun at theme parks! During this time of the year, there isn’t much crowd or queues for you to worry about so take your family out and go have some fun! Take your family to Sunway Lagoon and experience one-of-kind Nickelodeon Raya campaign happening from 25 May – 9 June 2019. Enjoy Nickelodeon-themed activities for you and your little ones! Check out their activities here.

5. Discover The City!

This is the best time for you and your family to really explore what Kuala Lumpur has to offer! From historical landmarks like the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Masjid Jamek, Central Market to modern marvels such as Petronas Twin Towers Skybridge or KL Tower, there’s so much to explore! If your family are into natural wonders, head over to Batu Caves, KL Bird Park, Zoo Negara or Aquaria KLCC to spend some quality time with your family. Your family might have the chance to encounter tourists who come to visit these landmarks. You can share other great spots in the city with them or even tell them about our local delicacies! Who knows, your family might make new international friends!

Regardless of where or how you celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, always remember to stay safe! In the spirit of forgiveness and giving this Raya, always take the chance to give back to those who are unfortunate and remember to forgive and ask for forgiveness from everyone around us. It doesn’t cost much to share a bit of love and appreciation to others. Kidxy wishes everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Maaf Zahir Batin. We hope you will have a great time with your loved ones, whether you’re in the city or not!

Thank you!
